Type With Your Voice Instead of Your Keyboard
Sometimes speaking is faster than typing. This tool activates your browser's speech recognition engine, listens to your microphone, and converts your speech to text in real time. Use it for quick drafts, note-taking, or any situation where dictation is more convenient than a keyboard.
Tips for Better Accuracy
Use a quiet environment — background noise is the biggest source of errors. Speak clearly at a natural pace — rushing or mumbling reduces accuracy. Use an external microphone if your built-in one is low quality. Select the correct language before starting — a mismatched language setting will produce garbled results.
Browser Support
The Web Speech Recognition API works best in Chrome and Edge on desktop. Mobile Chrome also supports it. Safari has partial support. Firefox does not support speech recognition. If the Start Listening button does not work, try switching to Chrome.
Privacy Note
Browser speech recognition sends your audio to cloud servers (Google for Chrome, Microsoft for Edge) for processing. This is how the API works — local-only recognition is not available in browsers. If you are dictating sensitive information, be aware that audio is processed externally. The tool itself stores nothing.
